Ingredients
2 ½ cups (310g) cake flour, sifted
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
4 large eggs, room temperature
1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup (240ml) whole milk, room temperature
1 ½ cups (345g) unsalted butter, softened
6 cups (720g) powdered sugar, sifted
¼ cup (60ml) heavy cream
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Food coloring gels (skin tone, pink, black, white)
Fondant in black, white, and pink
Edible markers
Piping bags and assorted tips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two 8-inch pans.
2. Whisk cake flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
3. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with dry.
5. Divide batter into pans and bake 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
6. Make buttercream by beating butter, adding sugar, then cream and vanilla. Tint as needed.
7. Stack and fill cakes with buttercream. Chill 20 minutes.
8. Carve Labubu head and ears using a serrated knife and template.
9. Apply crumb coat, chill, then add final buttercream layer.
10. Decorate with fondant features and edible markers.
11. Serve at room temperature for best flavor.
